The biggest curse-ending moment in baseball history demands a deep rewind | 2016 World Series Game 7

This is perhaps the most important at-bat in baseball history. With two outs in the bottom of the tenth inning of Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, the Chicago Cubs stared down Cleveland looking for one final out.
The difference between an out and a hit -- potentially a walk-off hit -- would determine which curse reached its end: Chicago's painful, generations-long "Billy Goat Curse" or Cleveland's own long history of defeat on the biggest stage.
This moment was so big that it kind of buried how absurd the whole game was. Chicago had come back to tie the series, but experienced some bad breaks, then fully blew their substantial lead when Rajai Davis homered off typically lights-out closer Aroldis Chapman. After more bad breaks, Chicago finally pulled ahead again thanks to more heroics in the top of the tenth, but in this moment, stood one big hit-- and more scoring from Davis-- away from blowing it all again.
Before we watch this monumental baseball event, we have so much rewinding to do.

  • Can you guys do Jim Leyritz 1996 World Series game tying homerun in game 4 ? Best Yankee moment I ever watched. The Braves were destroying the Yankees on there way to two straight world series championships. The Yanks were down 6-0 against Braves pitching down 2-1 in the series. It felt like another blowout and the Braves had the series locked up. The 96 Yankees hadn't won a series since the 70s. The moment Leyritz hit that homerun instantly shifted the momentum and the Yankees never lost again. The Braves heart just gave out. So much so in 1999 the Yankees swept the Braves winning 8 straight world series games in two world series. The Braves were the team of the 90s going for a second championship blowing out the yankees and the Yankees were a losing team more or less for 15 years then. Down 6-0 the moment Leyritz hit that homerun the Braves never were the same again and the Yankees started a dynasty. To this day I've never seen a more paradigm changing swing of the bat then Leyritz's game 4 tying homerun. Please do that homerun in a moment in history. Love your channel

  • I truly feel 2016 was one of the best years in sports. Here's why: Cubs end their 108 year championship drought and the Billy Goat curse Cavaliers become the first team to comeback from a 3-1 deficit against the winningest team in NBA history with LeBron officially stamping his place among all-time greats and Kyrie's clutch 3 Villanova beats UNC in one of the greatest college basketball games ever with Kris Jenkins at the buzzer Peyton Manning retires with one more ring in Super Bowl 50 Kobe Bryant retires with 60 points in his final game (RIP Black Mamba 😢🖤) Amazing 2016 Summer Olympics And many more I can't name right now. Truly a great time to be a sports fan and I can't wait until we can all fill up stadiums and hear the crowds roaring! 🥳

  • Joe Maddon almost blew this series for the Cubs, I believe. What the heck was he thinking when he let Chapman pitch as long as he did in Game 6 when it wasn't necessary? And why did he pull his starter in Game 7 after a walk when he was pitching so very well? I got the impression that Maddon was trying to be smarter than he actually was, and it very nearly cost the Cubs. I'm glad the Cubs were able to overcome him.

  • So disappointed. I wanted a recap of the biggest curse-ending moment in baseball history, but it wasn't about the Curse of the Bambino, the biggest curse in baseball history. The billy goat curse started after a nearly 40 year World Series drought that was already in existence... Really???? So how do they explain that? And Cleveland's curse started a dozen years after they won the World Series... Give me a break. Huge let down, fake inaccurate title. Disrespecting Babe Ruth like that?? Unforgivable.

  • One of the best and most significant World Series games ever. Two teams looking to end their respective curses (Indians - Rocky Colavito/Chief Wahoo, Cubs - Billy Goat) whilst knowing that only 1 of those two curses would be vanquished, and that they could only vanquish the curse if they won the series. The Cubs vanquished their curse, the Indians came up short yet again.
